hey this is the everything sucks site. we're a band from long island. the band consists of matt, chris, darren and burt. this is our news.

i’ve been making hit records since 1983

we played a party celebrating the birth of our pal jay the other night. we didn’t advertise it because we didn’t think we were allowed to. anywho, it was pretty fun. the marine electric also played, they loaned us some equipment. here are some live photos that emmanuel took. he is a nice guy because he also filmed us a bit. we’ll play some more shows and never record new songs soon. keep up the good work.

youz guyz

Hello,

My name is Matthew. I am the fourth Matthew in my family. I am also the fourth member of Everything Sucks. I have a job where people ask me certain things about certain things they would use in their home. One person asked me today, “Where are your goblets?” Unfortunately, we do not sell goblets where I work. This person wanted to paint goblets for some sort of party involving references to dragons, swords, chain mail, horses, and fair maidens. If this person was to talk about the musical entity Everything Sucks, he may say something like, “They’re entering the fourth age.” This person would be correct. He may have a World of Warcraft account. He may be a living, breathing L.A.R.P. He may not have many friends one would consider “cool”, “hip”, or “with it”. But in his Tolkienesque assesment of the state of our band, he would be correct.

We have embarked on a recording journey. This journey has not been easy. There have been setbacks. There were undercooked steaks. There was burnt toast. There were tearful late night confessions. There were drive-by eggings plaguing L.A. There were family deaths. There were weeks of work. There were bouts of incredible happiness. There were bouts of crippling depression. There were days when we all felt ok. The journey is not over. We have many rivers to cross, but I assure you they’ll be crossed threefold before our flesh and spirits part from one another. We are all monumentally excited about what we have in store for people who like listening to us. Keep your ears and internet to the ground, soon you will have something more to listen to and talk about(Cary, I’m talking to you).

We have played some shows recently. The Marine Electric are nice people. SpeedSpeedSpeed are nice people. Halfway to Hellclub are nice people. Penny Winblood are nice people. Buy their respective records respectfully.

The Agent put a seven inch out. It is fantastic. Turncoat has a tape out. It is fantastic. Youthviolence are lovely gentlemen worthy of your time. I like Pavement a lot. Silkworm is a good band to listen to in the fall if you’re the type of person who talks about listening to certain records during certain seasons. Speaking of The Fall, I found a bunch of their older records while cleaning my room recently. I strongly suggest to everyone that they clean their room to find older Fall records. It’s been a great treat for me. Fucked Up makes me glad I have ears and eyes.

Sticking with the room cleaning theme, if you have too many books you’re not exactly in need of I strongly suggest donating them here.
Anything you send would be a great aide in increasing literacy, expanding school and community libraries, and decreasing environmental waste caused by disposing unwanted books. There is a ton of information on the site. They have a store as well, with proceeds benefitting the same causes a book donation would.

We’re going to have a bunch of shows soon. We’re going to have a bunch of fun soon. We are going to have a bunch of everything soon. I hope you’ll be around to join us.

a show in october

hey. how are you? everything sucks is really bad at doing things sometimes. it’s not that we don’t have the drive, it’s just that we can’t seem to get together to make the things work. we’re working on this record and it’s coming along but it’s taking way longer than we all thought it would. the main reason is our conflicting schedules. for example, the wonderful chris enriquez offered us a show like three weeks ago but we didn’t tell him “yes” until today. it’s hard enough to even discuss playing shows let alone record a record. oh well. come to this show anyway, it’ll be fun and i have work the next morning really early.

it’s a gaming ship.

first thing is first. my mom has a new dog. his name is brady. he’s lovely.

second thing is second. we’ve played a few shows in the last month or so. every one of them has been a wonderful time. people have bestowed many kind words upon us. we appreciate kind words. we are also willing to accept unkind words with minds open and hearts set on improvement. we are constantly striving to be better people who live in a better america. out of all the kind words we’ve heard, the kindest group of words is “hey (insert everything sucks band member name here), i like the new songs you played tonight a lot, i would really enjoy it if you recorded those songs so i can listen to them while i make dinner for my family, or mow my lawn, or buy stocks online, or sell bootlegged kiss live sets from the early ’80s on the american internet, or water my flowers, or cut out pictures of cats to make cat collages of cats, or walk around the town i went to high school in and think ‘high school was a bummer’ to myself.” well we are recording much sooner than much later. rest assured of that.

third(age) thing is third. halfwaytohellclub is the proud owner of a new musical compact disc. it is a great musical compact disc. they are all people worthy of your time and attention. speaking of time and attention, please give it to speedspeedspeed, thieves and assasins, capital, iron chic, youthviolence, cheeky, nautical mile, i fold, stay alive, and mclusky.

fourth thing is fourth. i know some people that were able to remove the walls of a truck. these people have replaced those walls with glass. they do things inside this glass truck that make people happy. they watch interesting films. they help people make mojo hands. they sing songs (i’m not entirely sure if they sing songs). they generally have a good time. the general sense of having a good time is heightened due to the fact that you are having a good time in a truck with windows instead of walls that big city folk passing by can watch. this may be called art. i find it interesting, perhaps you will as well. visit their website here: www.partsandlaborgallery.com.

fifth thing is fifth. my brother billy was accepted to a real live new york state university(american). i would like to send best regards on behalf of everyone here in camp suckage. also, congratulations are in order for all of you recently graduated people throughout this great nation and this slightly less great world. good luck, i hope you make it.

sixth thing is sixth. radical patrick exists on long island again. give him shit if he doesn’t hang out with you. he has no excuse and really needs to figure out what he wants to do with his free time. i love you patrick.

seventh thing is seventh. we’d like to play some shows. let us know if you’d like us to play shows. in between planning to record we can play some shows.

eighth thing is eighth. if you have pictures of us playing music, please send them to us. darren is a photographer. because of his chosen profession, i feel that although people regularly take pictures of us they may be reluctant to send them. they don’t want to fall under his great red eye of flaming photo student scrutiny. i assure you this is nothing to be afraid of. if anything, darren could provide constructive criticism for your pictures. also, we would be proud to show everyone the pictures you took of us smiling and jumping around. darren makes the best faces when he hits his ride cymbal. i need proof of this.

ninth thing is ninth. there is a man named craig wasserman. he exists in the world. he is having a party at his house tonight. his house is in bethpage and according to him it is “right around the block” from every building i have ever been in with him. this means that as you’re reading this you stand “right around the block” from a wonderful party at craig wasserman’s house. i was told to invite people to this party. i know no people. my our little slice of the internet reach enough of you to make it a good party.

sincerely,
matthew
